MathCityMap training for teachers to support the SmartCity Semarang Program

Eighteen Mathematics Teachers at the Junior High School level in the city of Semarang have participated in MathCityMap training organized by the Department of Mathematics at the Semarang State University and Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) in collaboration with IDMI Goethe Universität Frankfurt Germany. The training began on September 4, 2019 and was held at the Mathematics Laboratory of UNNES and the environment around the UNNES campus.

MathCityMap in Taman Pintar Jogja: explore mathematics in a recreation and education park

Research on MathCityMap in Indonesia has been conducted by the Working group MATIS I from IDMI Goethe University Frankfurt Germany in collaboration with the Mathematics Department of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) since 2014. Apart from research results, MathCityMap is implemented in several regions in Indonesia both for mathematics learning activities formally in schools and for informal activities in a relaxed atmosphere.

MCM Guest Lecture in Indonesia

On April 22, there was a small premiere at the University of Semarang, Indonesia. For the first time a lecture took place completely over the Internet and was transferred into several rooms. By invitation of Adi Nur Cahyono (MCM Educator for Indonesia), Joerg Zender gave a lecture on outdoor education in the field of mathematics didactics, introducing MathCityMap and its research findings. In general, the challenges of quantitative research have been addressed and, in particular, the open questions associated with research work have been discussed. After the approximately 90-minute presentation there was still room for questions. The participants were particularly interested in the possibilities to use MathCityMap in class. Most of the questions involved the process of organizing and organizing a mathtrail with MCM, as well as possible topics and response formats that could be used to translate mathematical questions.

Mathematical Modeling in Influenza Epidemics with Vaccination Strategies

In 2009, bird flu epidemic outbreak and it is followed by swine flu epidemic. Flu epidemic causes many mortality in human and more of human must be treated in hospital. One of the efforts to combat this plague is vaccination. Vaccination was given to susceptible human. From the fact that the disease is epidemic, it is possible to establish a mathematical model of the influenza cases. The resulting model is SIRS with constant population. In this study, it was used methods include literature reviews, analysis, and simulation. The conclusions obtained in the form of mathematical models and analysis as well as the minimum percentage of individuals who are vaccinated so that the plague has not spread.

Era Digital, Guru Matematika Dituntut Beradaptasi

SEMARANG, – Pengajar maupun calon guru bidang matematika dituntut mampu beradaptasi dengan perubahan dalam era digital saat ini. Sebab, ilmu matematika yang merupakan salah satu fondasi kemajuan, jika pengampunya tidak menyesuaikan dengan era teknologi digital akan sulit diterima anak didik ketika berada di kelas.

“Matematika sama seperti ilmu yang lain, perlu beradaptasi secara kritis terhadap perkembangan zaman,” ungkap dosen Jurusan Matematika FMIPA Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) Dr Djamilah Bondan Widjajanti di sela-sela ”Seminar Nasional Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika (Sematik)” yang diselenggarakan Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS) di lantai 7 kampus tersebut Jl Sidodadi Timur, Semarang, Sabtu (11/8).
